Image Description: Black and white photo of a CorpsTHAT Crew project contact, signing as CorpsTHAT Crew members with a hard hats look on. Text reads: American Sign Language for the Outdoors: Virtual 10 week course.  ASL Level 2: April 2 – June 6 | Tue/Thur | 7-8pm EST.  $500 per student – scholarships available.

This course meets virtually Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 pm EST for 10-weeks starting on April 2nd and ending on June 6th. With a make up course day schedule for the following week, if needed.

American Sign Language II students will refine their use of basic sentence types and try out their skills through interactions, such as giving and receiving directions. Our ASL II courses are taught by a native Deaf ASL signer who has extensive experience working in the outdoor fields and will be able to adjust teaching styles and topics to fit the students’ needs. By the end of this course, students will be able to confidently carry on conversations on topics that are commonly discussed in the outdoors, expand their extensive outdoor-related vocabularies, communicate more efficiently in emergencies like wilderness medicine, a more advanced understanding of ASL grammar and syntax, Deaf culture and etiquette tailored to outdoor settings, and so much more.

CorpsTHAT’s ASL courses use Zoom to meet virtually twice a week and use google classrooms for submitting assignments outside of class time.

Courses are $500 per student and $400 for any returning CorpsTHAT student. Use the google form below to register. Once you submit your registration form you will be emailed an invoice and can use the link there to make your payment.

CorpsTHAT doesn’t want finances to be a barrier to learning ASL, if you are requesting a scholarship, please fill out this form here.
