These alumni will share their experiences working on conservation corps crews. You will get the chance to ask questions and receive guidance on how to apply to work with the conservation corps and what career path options there are for after the corps experience. \nJob seekers\, VR/Transition Counselors\, Educators\, Parents\, and Community members welcomed to attend. After this panel\, we will be sharing details about our CorpsTHAT Conservation Crew as well as other programs throughout the country this summer. \n  \nModerator:\nJemima Chong (She/Her) \nI served as a crew leader for CorpsTHAT in the summer of 2024 at Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forest. As an international student\, I am currently working on the papers for a master’s degree in biology with environmental education certification at Eastern Kentucky University\, focusing on the inclusion of outdoor education\, recreation\, and workplace for Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities! \nPanelists:\nJoanel Lopez (he/him/his)      Paige Austin (She/her)            Mark Lucero-Muñiz (He/Him)             Estrella Rayner (she/her) \nI served as a Bridging Culture Conservation Corps crew member for Montana Conservation Corps in the Summer/Fall of 2013. I was involved in performing federally sponsored projects such as trail maintenance\, fire management\, archeological field survey\, wildlife survey\, range management\, timber survey\, and others with the USDA Forest Service\, the US Fish and Wildlife Service\, and the National Park Service. I’ve worked in several different positions for the USDA Forest Service for nearly 11 years on the Green Mountain & Finger Lake National Forests and the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. I am currently a Forest Measurement Specialist on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. \nMy name is Paige Austin. I started my conservation corps journey in 2021 with the Southeast Conservation Corps and returned in 2024 with the CorpsTHAT Conservation Crew. Through a four-month internship with the National Park Service\, I discovered a love for interpretation\, especially giving tours and sharing the history of Mission San Jose. After completing the internship in December 2024\, I applied to RIT/NTID and since then have been accepted to study environmental science. When not working or at school\, I enjoy creating animation\, hiking\, and archery.  \nMark Lucero-Muñiz has dedicated three seasons to the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps in New Mexico- two summer seasons and one fall season as a Crew Supervisor. Additionally\, he completed an Internship Placement (IP) with the National Park Service at Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque\, NM. During his time with RMYC\, Mark worked on projects including mortar work\, landscaping\, and tree planting. In his internship\, he collaborated with a welder to construct essential infrastructure for the park\, such as posts\, camera mounts\, and fencing. Currently\, Mark works as an Assistant Program Manager supporting the Deaf and DeafBlind community and also serves as a Deaf Interpreter. His passion for accessibility\, inclusion\, and hands-on service continues to shape his work and advocacy. \nWorked for Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa as a Youth Crew Member (2019\, 2021-2022) and Youth Peer Mentor (2023) in ASL crews. There were a lot of challenging but rewarding experiences. My favorite project was fixing the bridges at Isle Royale National Park. I am in my third year at Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf majoring in Laboratory Science Technology. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\nRSVP using the Google form below to get the Zoom link access! SUMMARY:Flash Foxy: Trad Fest
DESCRIPTION:CorpsTHAT Representatives will be at the Flash Foxy Trad Fest in North Conway\, NH.\nSeptember 27-29\, 2024\nRegister: Here \nInterpreters for the event are provided by CorpsTHAT and sponsored by a grant from Arc’Teryx \n  \nTrad Fest is a 3 day climbing festival for women and genderqueer climbers – including trans and gender non-conforming folks – of all ages put on by the Flash Foxy organization. The festival is open to experienced climbers as well as beginner climbers to learn more about the sport and all the community has to offer!  This year the festival is located in North Conway\, NH which is within the lands traditionally known as N’dakinna\, which is the traditional ancestral homeland of the Abenaki\, Pennacook\, Pequawket and Wabanaki Peoples past and present. \nThis festival is a compliment to the Flash Foxy Climbing Festival in Bishop\, event which is primarily bouldering and sport climbing with a little trad climbing. Trad Fest will be primarily trad climbing (aka traditional climbing) with some opportunities for top roping and bouldering. During the festival there will be clinics\, meetups and even a stewardship event on Sunday morning hosted with Friends of the Ledges and support from the Access Fund and your very own CorpsTHAT !! \nFlash Foxy Trad Fest welcomes women and genderqueer climbers to join us at this event. Our goal is to create and maintain a safe and diverse space where consent and respect are our first priorities. Harassment of any kind (unwanted contact\, verbal or physical abuse\, racism\, homophobia\, transphobia\, body-shaming\, etc.) will NOT be tolerated and will lead to being asked to leave. \n  \n  \nThanks to Flash Foxy for working with us to make this event more accessible and for our interpreter sponsor and continued supporter Arc’Teryx! \n  \n \n  \n  \n
